First, a little background – When we first started planning our business, and factoring cost of goods sold (COGS) we factored-in $2 for each box. Long story short: Wrong! In reality the large boxes we need to ship your dog’s food cost approximately $5 a piece, even when purchased in bulk. Ouch!
In order to avoid raising prices, we started using re-purposed boxes from a local hardware store, but we outgrew their supply rather quickly. Fortunately we live among the largest industrial park on the East Coast. It didn’t take us long to find a few reliable “partners” who were throwing out gently used boxes that fit our needs perfectly.
